A MESSAGE FROM THE
CHAIRPERSON OF THE LUTEFISK DINNER EVENT HELD ON JANUARY 31ST Dear Volunteers, I want to extend a warm and grateful thank you for your wonderful support and hard work at the Poulsbo Sons of Norway Lutefisk Dinner on January 31st. Thanks to your dedication, we served nearly 500 happy guests, and the event was truly a celebration of Norwegian spirit and community. Your teamwork and enthusiasm made the evening special, and we received many compliments—the food was delicious (as always), and many guests said it was the best lutefisk ever! This success is the result of months of effort and planning. It truly demonstrates the strength of our community and helps our lodge thrive and continue our cultural traditions. Tusen takk for your generosity and commitment. I hope to see all of you again next year for another memorable evening. Together, we make our lodge stronger and keep the Norwegian spirit alive! Thanks again, Scott Kankovsky Poulsbo Sons of Norway |

FEB 14 SUNSET VALISBLOT (VALENTINE'S VIKING STYLE)
Valisblót (Valentine’s Viking Style) is a Poulsbo Sons of Norway Viking tradition that marks renewal, the changing of the seasons, and love. The bonfire is a beacon of hope as the days grow longer, as proclaimed during the ceremony. It’s a celebration attributed to Odin’s youngest son, Vali. He is seen as a symbol of hope and renewal. The Vikings take over Front Street and end at a bonfire on the waterfront. The roaring fire offers all present - Vikings and visitors - a time to look into the flames, see the embers rise, pause in their lives to reflect and appreciate our sweethearts, and feel the warmth of the glowing fire. Time: Sunset |
MON,
FEB 16 5:30 PM FINN BROBAKKEN IS OUR GUEST and will present "Little-Known Places to Visit in Norway."
Our Lodge will feature a presentation by Finn Brobakken, a Norwegian citizen from the small valley of Snertingdal in Gjøvik county. The title of his presentation is "Little-Known Places to Visit in Norway." Of his presentation, Mr. Brobakken says, "We have many famous and beautiful places and areas in Norway that tens of thousands of tourists visit every year. However, in my program, I talk about some of the smaller and lesser-known places." Brobakken lives on a small farm called Steinsrud that has been in his family since 1875. He retired after 30 years in construction and 10 years as a postman. He has been in charge of the local Historical Society Lodge in his home valley and has been a volunteer firefighter for 19 years. He also served in the National Guard (Heimevernet) for 18 years. |
